GOLF COURSE UPDATE
Further to the recent news about the redevelopment of the golf course the director of Alhama Golf Resort had the following update to share in which she was thankful for all the support she had received since the new company Alhama Healthy Living S.L. bought the golf course last January. She went on to say how she felt very comfortable and accepted by the community and how aware she was of the difficulty and uncertainty that Alhama Signature Golf has caused in recent times. The following is a summary of the actions taken since their arrival at Alhama Signature Golf and the short/medium term projects for the improvement of the facilities:
There have been new black bars introduced onto the golf course, allowing players to tee off from any bar they wish. Work is being done on the natural area of the driving range and other areas of the course, as well as cleaning the paths to prevent plants from invading the paved path. Several faults in the irrigation system have been identified and fixed, for example the fertiliser injection system and one of the five pumps that had been broken in recent years. The fairways, greens & tees have all been fertilised last week and will be fertilised every fortnight going forward to strengthen and accelerate the growth of the grass on the entire playing surface. All the machines at the golf course have been repaired and more machinery has been purchased such as 25 buggies at the beginning of February to be able to meet the needs of the course in the coming weeks
In the practice area, the storage room has been updated and a sink for clubs and practice balls has been installed. New practice balls have been purchased, increasing the number of balls per euro. New signage has been installed for better use of the area. The painting of all the toilets has also been completed.
The Region of Murcia as Alhama de Murcia is considered to be an area very affected by the overpopulation of rabbits. A licence has been obtained from the Consejería de Medioambiente for the control of the rabbit plague locally which consists of live capture and distribution in other areas of the Condado Alhama 20th March 2023. The holes will be filled in to improve the playing surface. A sanitary control system is being set up for both irrigation and drinking water. The lakes will be gradually cleaned up.
The entire golf course surface area is going to be cordoned off within the next few weeks to inform passers-by, neighbours and anyone not involved in the practice of golf, not to trespass the private playing area. The prohibition of illegal access to the facilities will be signposted in several languages, and any act of vandalism that takes place at Alhama Signature Golf will be reported to the Guardia Civil. The walking of people, animals, motorbikes, scooters, etc. will not be permitted on the golf course. Access to the lakes for the recovery of balls is not permitted, as this could not only damage the plastic cover that covers them but could also lead to accidents. During the most problematic months there will be a porter service and further controls put in place to try to avoid any further vandalism. The development of the Club House will start in the second half of this year in the meantime more works will be carried out on the renovation of the existing Proshop and restaurant. The opening hours of the Proshop have been extended to give twilight service to those clients who wish to play at that time. Following requests received through Condado Alhama GS we have proceeded to create new memberships that are more in line with the needs of the golfing community of this course, monthly subscription and weekend subscription are now available at the Proshop.
